Larry Heller collection, 1939-1945.

This collection consists of Lawrence Heller's original World War II recruitment and public education art work. It contains original pen and ink, pencil, oil and water color posters along with his "Air-Wac" layouts and posters. Additionally, there is a collection of forty-three photographs depicting World War II soldiers and Air Force personnel performing their daily work duties.

Lawrence G. Heller was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania in 1905 and moved with his family to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1912 where he attended both grade school and high school in Colorado Springs. He later graduated from Williams College, then studied art at Carnegie Tech and Yale Fine Arts School. Heller became a commercial artist and worked as an actor, set designer and artist for the Alexander Film Company. He married in 1936 and he and his wife built their home in Colorado Springs which ...
